Today was one of those days where i thought about what has been and what is to be.
I often find myself confused as to why i am such and to be fortunate or in an otherwise predicament. Nevertheless i cannot say this was unintentional or uninvited. This are they way they are and often this is the way they are meant to be.

Its always a breath of fresh air however to experience what others have to offer.. people are fascinatingly complicated and intelligent beyond most measure of words… looking forward I’m not so certain about how it will unfold but am certain about what it is i want to do. That is I will do what ever i want to and that is to experience life and see and understand what it is other people present and bring to the table.
Looking back at what has passed I see what could have been but this is only a view of ‘mine’ that probably wouldn’t equal the truth.. opportunity is something that often is created out of ones pursue of what seems right at the time, destiny is the result of letting which decisions ring true.
I always talk about regret. Never regret something that you have done.. only regret the things you did not. its all about ‘what if?’ and if you don’t go and find out the truth this will always be the thing that you ask yourself. This is only true of my self and perhaps a few others, but i feel there is some truth to it.

Today represents a new start and a new beginning.. this is new surroundings, people and relationships. Whatever happens next, one is not to know. But this is what should happen and should never be reflected upon than anything less than a success.
On a post reflection… I’m planning a journey that should occur in the next two years.. that is to cross from Singapore to Dublin..

Well.. just got back from my first trip to Tioman! located 2hrs boat trip east of Mersing Malaysia.. and not after a 2 hr taxi ride from Johor Bahru!

Basically this weekend is a long weekend here in Singapore.. so I’ve decided to give it a go reaching tioman without prebooking anything.. anyhow.. I head off from work at about 4pm.. and catch the MRT from Jurong East to Kranji.. from there I caught the 170 bus across the causeway and then into Larkin bus terminal in Johor Bahru..
At this stage my plan of not prebooking anything seemed to fall though.. couldnt get any bus to Mersing as they had been all booked out… doh! But not to be outdone I split a taxi fare with the other guy I traveled with.. Jorge the Spaniad.. and proceeded to Mersing… Mersing book into a small hotel and sleep.
Next day head to the ferry terminal and jump straight on a departing boat.. time 7.30am.. two hours later arrive at tioman island!

Once there I jumped off and Tekek beach and then found lodgings at the Coral Inn Hotel.. cheap and somewhat nasty… but a bed none the less.. with a roof of course..
That day the spaniad convinced me to walk across the island to Juara beach.. and is about a 2hr walk each way.. over a 5 or 7 km.. with a elevation of something like 700m… so you can imagine that it was straight up.. flat.. and then straight down.. half way along however found a waterfall swam and refreshed!

and for all my former student.. I didnt realise you guys liked going to tioman too!

Juara is quite a nice beach.. a bit exposed to the ocean than on the west coast.. stopped for about 2hrs.. had seafood beer and then left…

Day one over! day two was a killer…. another trek.. this time from Tekek to Salang.. and not a small feat to say the least.. it was a fricken crazy hard walk.. and not to mention i was hung over… Went through monkey bay / beach on the way.. and yes there was no monkeys!!!
Almost 4hrs after setting out Salang appeared on the distant horizon.. stay about two hours and then ferried back to Tekek… where I realised I had only enough Ringgit to buy a return ferry ticket.. pay for accomadations.. and then was about it!
Day Three!!!!
Headed to jety at about 7.15.. somehow pushing through the crowds and onto the boat.. 2.5 hours later arriving at Mersing.. where I realised I had only 14 Ringget left.. and still yet to figure out how to get back to Johor Bahru.. After checking to see if there was a bus back.. they were all booked out… but not to worry .. met a dive manager from Tioman and he showed us where to catch a local bus from…
Found the bus and it cost 8 Ringgit! in budget! choice! this bus plyed to Kota Tingi.. where we jumped to aother bus to Larkin in JB.. cost? 4 Ringgit! stilll on budget.. after that at Larkin.. transfered to the 170 bus and then proceeded across the causeway! done!!! thus finished my long weeked to tioman!

Well the week just gone has been very interesting.. This week marks the start of a new life as I have finished moving out of my old apartment and not only that I’ve participated in my very first Seder! which is a jewish ritual or the like celebrating their escape from the Egypt.
Anyhow… part of it is drinking lots of wine! so I guess its not a bad thing after all

So lots of food and drink for all involved! needless to say some of us there got completely bloto!
And a shirt was made for the event.. which i thought was quite cool.. and on the back..

Go the Merlion! finally fell over and vomited!

These days i’ve confused everybody about what i’m actually doing. That is to say that I’ve left Ngee Ann Poly after two years to pursue favorite interests.. If any of you know me well enough you should already know what these interests are.. and yes I’ve pursued them.. and with that perhaps a hint..

Not one to give anything away.. but hey.
Anyhow to all my former students.. stand up for your rights! its your life you know!
